As spring approaches, we’re thrilled to announce the upcoming release of our 2024 Mascarin Rosé of Pinot Noir. This vibrant new vintage promises to be a standout addition to our portfolio, showcasing winemaker Matt Taylor’s meticulous approach and commitment to terroir-driven wines. To celebrate this release, we’ve created this guide to help you discover the perfect cheese pairings to help you celebrate  rosé season!

Introducing The 2024 Mascarin Rosé

This wine exemplifies Matt Taylor’s winemaking philosophy, focusing on natural methods that allow the terroir to shine through. As a third-generation Sonoman with over 23 years of experience, Matt has crafted a rosé that embraces oxygen – evolving rather than breaking down once opened, unfolding into an exceptional sensory experience.

Did you know that rosé can age? Ours can! Because of the exposure to oxygen during the winemaking process, clean, pure rosé will last longer in the bottle as well as in the glass.

Perfect Cheese Pairings

Fresh Goat Cheese

Goat cheese and Provençal-style rosé is a match made in heaven. The pillowy texture of fresh chèvre accentuates the juicy, fruity aromas of strawberry and watermelon in our rosé. The bright acidity of the wine cuts through the creamy texture of the cheese, creating a harmonious balance. Try a log of fresh goat cheese drizzled with local honey.

Aged Chèvre

For something a bit more complex, aged goat cheeses like our favorite, Humboldt Fog,  pair beautifully with our rosé. The dense, cakey texture and bright, clean flavor of aged chèvre teases out the mineral nuances in the wine.

Triple Cream Cheeses

The luscious texture of triple cream cheeses like Brie de Nangis or Trillium creates a delightful contrast with the crisp acidity of our rosé. The wine’s bright fruit notes and refreshing finish cleanse your palate after each rich, buttery bite of cheese, making this pairing a perfect marriage of food and wine.

Alpine-Style Cheeses

Summer-milk Comté and other Alpine-style cheeses offer gentle floral notes that interact beautifully with the fruit notes in the wine. Look for raw milk varieties made from summer milk, when cows feast on herbs and flowers.

Sheep’s Milk Cheeses

Aged sheep’s milk cheeses like Ossau-Iraty or Pecorino are naturally buttery with herbaceous flavors that blossom next to the mineral-driven qualities of our rosé. The wine’s acidity balances the richness of these cheeses perfectly. Add some dried figs or apricots to complete this Mediterranean-inspired pairing.

Charcuterie Companions

While cheese is the star of this pairing guide, our rosé also pairs beautifully with  charcuterie. The savory, buttery qualities of these cured meats complement the bright fruit notes in the wine. Add some Marcona almonds, olives, and dried cherries to create a complete tasting experience.
