2019 Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast | 94 EDITOR’S CHOICE

The nose of this wine presents a vibrant kaleidoscope of sweet cherry, tangy orange peel, root beer, caramelized shiitake mushroom and black tea aromas that evolve with every swirl. The palate brings all of that and more, adding in fresh cranberry, sage, cedar and black peppercorn flavors to the party. Editors’ Choice. β€”T.R.C.

2019Β Β Β Β  32 Winds Cabernet Sauvignon | 89

Inky purple/black in color, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon is toasty on the nose, with notes of graphite, sappy herbs, black plum, leather, and a bit of blue fruit coming through underneath it all. Full-bodied, it remains light on its feet and turns savory on the finish, with plush tannins, and it has a bright lift on the back palate that comes across as a touch unripe. It falls off a touch early, but it’s a nice savory option that expresses the woodsy side of the appellation. Drink 2024-2034. ( JUNE 28, 2024)

2019Β Β Β Β  32 Winds Pinot Noir Platt Vineyard | 93

A medium red color, the 2019 Pinot Noir Platt Vineyard is spicy and classic on the nose, with notes of dried cherries, baking spices, anise, and dried alpine herbs. Well-balanced and complex on the palate, this medium-bodied red takes on a good deal of character, with a core of ripe concentration and a long-lasting finish. As this was held back for release, it’s already in a good place for drinking now or over the coming 6-8 years. ( JUNE 28, 2024)

2019Β Β Β Β  32 Winds Chardonnay Platt Vineyard |93

A ripe yellow color, the 2019 Chardonnay Platt Vineyard takes on a tropical fruit profile with notes of pineapple and deep aromas of orange peel, incense, and dark stones. Full-bodied, it’s persistent and long on the palate, with ripeness all the way through and a mouthwatering note of salinity. It is going to show its best over the coming 6-7 years. ( JUNE 28, 2024)

2019Β Β Β Β  32 Winds Chardonnay Sonoma Coast | 92

Golden straw-hued, the 2019 Chardonnay Sonoma Coast is ripe with savory and deep reductive aromas of baked yellow apples, hay, gun flint, and baking spices. Filling the palate, this full-bodied white offers a ripe profile, with a generous warming feel and a good finish. It is a ripe style that has a little age and is in a great place for drinking over the next 4-6 years. ( JUNE 28, 2024)Β Β Β Β Β Β

2019Β Β Β Β  32 Winds Rose Of Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast | 91

Pouring a peachy salmon color, the 2019 Rose Of Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast is not your zesty quaffer. It takes on a savory personality with notes of fresh peach, tangerine, fresh herbs, and crushed stones. Medium-bodied, it retains a rounded texture, with more substance and a long finish. It’s designed as a more savory and serious styled wine that has a lot of versatility to enjoy throughout the year at the table. Drink 2024-2028. ( JUNE 28, 2024)Β Β Β Β

2018 Chardonnay Platt Vineyard | 95

Brought up in a mix of 40% concrete eggs and barrel, 15% being new, the medium gold-hued 2018 Chardonnay Platt Vineyard has lots of buttered citrus, exotic flowers, Meyer lemon, toasted almonds, and a hint of brioche to go with a medium to full-bodied, beautifully balanced, seamless Chardonnay that has loads of character. It’s beautifully done, has plenty of richness, a clean, bright spine of acidity, and a great finish. – Jeb Dunnuck (7/29/2020)

2018 Pinot Noir Platt Vineyard | 95

Slightly more expensive, the single vineyard 2018 Pinot Noir Platt Vineyard spent 17 months in 20% new barrels. It’s a bigger wine, with a touch more mid-palate density and depth, yet it still has plenty of underlying structure and tannic gip, offering up lots of redcurrent and darker cherry fruit as well as curing spices, smoke, and forestry, earthy notes. Give this rocking effort 2-4 years of bottle age and enjoy over the following decade or more. This beauty strikes a good balance between Old World and New World. – Jeb Dunnuck (7/29/2020)

2018 Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir | 94

Moving to the Pinot Noirs, the base appellation 2018 Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast was 60% destemmed and spent 11 months in 20% new French oak. This gorgeous Pinot Noir displays lots of red and black raspberry fruits, notes of forest floor, smoked earth, and a touch of graphite. With medium-bodied richness, a solid spine of acidity, building tannins, and straight-up beautiful balance, it’s going to benefit from another year or two of bottle age and keep for a decade. It’s beautifully done. – Jeb Dunnuck (7/29/2020)

2018 Sonoma Coast Chardonnay | 91

The 2018 Chardonnay Sonoma Coast is a classic Sonoma Coast Chardonnay from the Martinelli and Qual Hill Vineyard. It spent 11 months in 25% new French oak, with 20% of the blend brought up in concrete eggs. Lots of orchard fruits, pear, honeysuckle, and brioche emerge from the glass of this soft, more approachable, delicious Chardonnay, which has a kiss of background oak, medium body, and outstanding length.Β  – Jeb Dunnuck (7/29/2020)
