2012 Chardonnay
Lucky Well UV, Sonoma Coast
The Lucky Well Vineyard was planted in the fall of 2007 by Ulises Valdez (hence the "UV" in the wine's name) to Ehren Jordan's specifications.
The vineyard itself lies in the rolling hills 3 miles to the north of Occidental and just a few miles inland from the Pacific Ocean on the "true" Sonoma Coast. The vineyard is situated on the site of an abandoned apple orchard, rich in Goldridge soil. The vines sit above the fog line to maximize sunlight for ripening but in a cool enough location to ensure a long growing season. Lucky for Ulises, he found a water well to nourish the vineyard, hidden by the clearing of the old apple trees. Hence the name!
